I'm just trying to make my Alice Gate Router which (if you're unfamiliar with it, it's an ADSL wired/wireless router/modem) broadcast wirelessly to my WRT54Gv2 which of course is a Broadband Router. I read that it's possible and I got totally excited.

But, like I said I tried a bunch of firmwares, but I can't seem to get any of them to work. I can of course get the firmwares to work, but the repeater is a no go.I'm reading kind of old tutorials and after all day working on this I still don't fully understand it. Is there anyone kind enough to tell me which firmware I need and what exactly I'm supposed to do?Also maybe I have this wrong, but I was under the impression that after the dd-wrt firmware was installed that the WRT54G would be able to just be plugged into power and act as an almost re-router? Correct me if I'm wrong. But, the bottom line is I live in a four story house in the Italian rurals and the cement walls are not only thick, but supported by metal frames. Hence the reason I need to be able to set this up properly.Any help would be much appreciated. It's 1:30AM here so I'm sorry if I'm not making much sense or I've left out some important details.

Also sorry for the long read.Sponsor. SeniorfritoDD-WRT NoviceJoined: 11 Aug 2009Posts: 5Posted: Wed Aug 12, 2009 11:43 Post subject:Hi, thanks for the response. I've actually made some progress. I've got DMT-WRTv24preSP2 standard working on my box after I had already started with the mini. Now I've got the linksys box broadcasting wirelessly and I can connect with other computers, but there's no internet. After running a diagnostics (Vista) it came up with a DNS error. Saying something along the lines of cannot connect to Dynamic Name Server.

Roughly that's what it said. But, basically a DNS problem if I'm understanding it correctly.Honestly I think I've done everything correctly up until the configuration process. I just think I've got one or two things wrong in the webgui for the linksys.teclis22DD-WRT UserJoined: 28 Sep 2006Posts: 267Posted: Wed Aug 12, 2009 22:14 Post subject:For a quick fix of the dnsyou can set that manuallyjust head to openDNs and put their server addresses locally into your client machine see if that fixes the error.

On Alice Gate VoIP 2 Plus Wi-Fi (AGPF)Hi to all,I have the router in the subject and I want to install DD-WRT firmware, but I don't see this device on the database of supported devices.are the technical details about this device.Originally it was installed firmware version AGPF4.5.0sx. I downgraded to 4.4.2 and now the router is unlocked and I'm able to open the advanced panel.I searched inside the forum and seem to be that someone already tried that, but he didn't updated the topic and so I don't know anything about the results.Any help would be appreciated because without I'm afraid I will end up to brick and damage my router.ThanksSponsor. Are you really sure it is not possible? Please note that I'm not interested in the VOIP or IPTV. It's not a problem for me if I will lose that features.Thanksphuzi0nDD-WRT GuruJoined: 10 Oct 2006Posts: 10143Posted: Sat Oct 16, 2010 19:07 Post subject:IIRC Brainslayer has expressed a lack of desire to support devices that are anything more than a router even for basic functionality.

There's a possibility that it may boot but in all likelihood it won't. I suggest either using openwrt or sell it and get a supported device.Read the forum announcements thoroughly! Be cautious if you're inexperienced.Available for paid consulting.

It's the latest model and I was thinking was a great device. Look like I was wrong and this is just a useless piece of plastic.I considered also openwrt, but seem to be there's no web or gui interface and this make usage more harder.I also have a similar device, more older, but without VOIP. Any chance with that or trying to load DD-WRT firm. It's just a waste of time?To be honest I never had problems with these devices until I decided that I need to have in my computer running my ISP internet connection and a Vpn connection at the same time and other similar features like sharing the same vpn connection between multiple devices in my home.I spent lot of time trying to find an easier solution from windows or via the.Net framework, but always ended up with nothing.

The only way I found to access the connections and gain a minimum control on them is to disable the default gateway. Not sure if doing that could compromise security or not.Trying to handle things directly inside the devide didn't helped me too much, even after has been unlocked with the advanced control panel. I can handle ISP connection well, but look like it's ability to handle vpn is very limited (I still didn't found a way to add a vpn connection).I don't know if it's possible to achieve what I'm trying to do with my device or not. I also don't know if it's still possible trough windows.Do you think a new device with running DD-WRT can solve me this problems forever? What's the better device that unlock all DD-WRT power and features? And except vpn and isp concern, in what I can have benefits respect my actual device?ThanksDisplay posts from previous:Page 1 of 1-All times are GMTNavigation.
